About Septic Plus, Inc. – Trusted Septic & Land Services in Georgia
Our Story
Our family built Septic Plus, Inc. on hard work, honesty and doing the job right the first time. Our family has more than 50 years of septic experience. Septic Plus started in 2015. In 2021 our family took over and moved the business to Jackson County. Today our shop is at 437 S Elm St in Commerce, and our family lives in Jefferson.
The lessons we live by go back to Pop. Growing up, the kids in our family spent hot summers working alongside him. Pop owned the business, but he still picked up a shovel next to his crew and got dirty. He taught us to work hard, do the job right and never cut corners. To Pop, integrity was not about talking. It was about showing up and standing behind your work.
We are proud to call Jackson County home. We live here, shop here and raise our family here. The people we work for are our neighbors, and we want them to feel good about calling us again and telling their friends about us.
That same commitment drives Septic Plus today. Whether it is a simple pump out or a full new system, we hold ourselves to a high standard. It is the only way we know how to do business.
What We Do
We are a full service septic and plumbing company. Here is how we help homes and businesses:
• Septic tank pumping to keep solids out of your drain field
• Septic system repair for broken baffles, crushed pipes, roots and more
• Drain field repair and replacement built for our red clay soil
• New septic system installation for new homes and replacements
• Real estate septic inspections for buyers, sellers and agents
• Camera diagnostics so we can see the problem before we dig
• 24/7 emergency service for backups day or night
• Plumbing for homes and businesses
Where We Work
We serve Jackson County and the towns around it. That includes Commerce, Jefferson, Maysville, Nicholson, Homer, Talmo, Pendergrass, Arcade, Hoschton, Braselton, Winder, Athens and more. See all of our service areas.
What You Can Expect
When you call, a local person answers. We do not use a call center, and we are not a franchise. We listen to what is going on, ask a few questions and get you on the schedule.
When we get to your home, we find the real problem before we fix anything. We explain what we see in plain words. We tell you what needs to be done now, what can wait and what is just nice to have. You get free estimates and honest quotes up front, so there are no surprises.
For bigger jobs like a new drain field or a new system, financing is available through Acorn Finance.
Why Local Matters
Septic work in Northeast Georgia is not the same as septic work everywhere else. Our red clay holds water and drains slowly. Older homes may have tanks nobody has checked in years. New subdivisions keep going up on land that has never had a system before. We have worked in this ground for years, and we know how it acts.
Being local also means we are close. When your tank backs up, you want a crew that can get there, not one that is an hour away. We are proud to serve our neighbors, and we want every customer to feel like one.
How We Treat Your Home
Your yard is part of your home, and we treat it that way. We try to keep our trucks off your drain field and out of soft spots. We dig only where we need to. When the job is done, we clean up and put the ground back as best we can. If something comes up during the job, we stop and talk to you before we go further.
Tips From Our Family to Yours
• Pump your tank every three to five years, before it becomes a problem
• Know where your tank lid is so it is easy to find when you need it
• Keep wipes, grease and paper towels out of your drains
• Spread laundry out over the week instead of doing it all in one day
• Keep cars and heavy things off the tank and drain field
• Call early if you notice slow drains, gurgling or smells. Small problems are easier to fix

Licensed and Insured
Septic Plus is licensed and insured. We follow county rules for permits and inspections on every new system and repair that needs one.
What "Licensed" Means for a Georgia Septic Company
You may see "licensed and insured" on a lot of trucks. In Georgia, the state calls it being "certified." Here is what that takes.
The test. Georgia's Department of Public Health gives exams for septic installers and pumpers. A contractor needs a score of at least 70 points to be certified. They must also be at least 18.
Staying current. Certification is not a one-time thing. It renews every two years. Before renewal, installers must finish 8 units of continuing education. Pumpers must finish 6.
The company counts too. DPH says a septic company must employ at least one certified contractor to stay certified.
Pump trucks need a permit. Georgia's septage rule says pumping companies need a permit from the County Board of Health. It lasts one year and must be renewed every year. The company name and permit number must be lettered on both sides of each pump truck. The letters must be at least 2 inches tall.
So the next time a pump truck pulls up, look at the side. You should see a name and a permit number.
Matt holds the state certifications, and our name and permit number are on our truck. Have a question about how we work? Ask us anything at 770-472-7587.
Our Promise to You
We will show up when we say we will. We will tell you the truth about your system, even when the answer is that you do not need us yet. And we will treat your home the way we would want ours treated. That is how Pop did it, and that is how our family still does it today.
